As Chairman of the Republican Party of Norfolk, and pursuant to the Plan of Organization of the Republican Party of Virginia and as recommended and directed by the Committee, I, Robert E. Brown do hereby issue this call for a Mass Meeting to be held at _________________________________, or its alternate site, starting at 12:00 Noon EST March 26, 2022 (Registration begins at 10:30am) for the following purposes:
1. Electing a Chairman of The Republican Party of Norfolk
2. Electing members of the Republican Party of Norfolk
3. Electing up to 169 Delegates and an equal number of Alternates to the District Convention of the 3rd Congressional District, date and location to be determined.
1. Electing a District Chairman
In addition, any other such other business as may properly come before the mass meeting.
Qualifications for Participation
All legal and qualified voters of City or Norfolk under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, regardless of race, religion, national origin or sex, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and who, if requested, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as may be required, their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election, may participate as members of the Republican Party of Virginia participate in this Mass Meeting, subject to the provisions in Article I of the Plan of Organization.
Mass Meeting participants must present one of the forms of photo identification issued by the State of Virginia or Federal Government.
There is no registration fee for participants.
Filing Requirements
Candidates for election or nomination at this Mass Meeting shall file a written statement with Pamela Brown, Secretary, Republican Party of Norfolk by mail or by physical delivery at 8507 Troy St Norfolk VA 23503‐5518. The written statement must be received by the deadline; postmarks are not evidence of receipt by the deadline. The statement must be made on an official filing form, which is available on the RPV website at https://virginia.gop/
Candidates for election as Chairman of the Republican Party of Norfolk must file the written statement by 5:00 pm February 25, 2022 and shall include with their written statement a check or evidence of payment of a $100.00 non-refundable filing fee. The statement must be made on an official filing form, which is available on the RPV website at https://virginia.gop/
Candidates for election to membership of the Republican Party of Norfolk must file the written statement and shall include with their written statement a check or evidence of payment of a $25.00 filing fee. The statement must be made on an official filing form, which is available on the RPV website at https://virginia.gop/
Cancellation
If not more than the number of persons to be nominated or elected shall file for any office, then such properly filed persons shall be declared nominated or elected as the case may be, and no election will occur for that office. Should all elections be cancelled, the Mass Meeting will also be cancelled. A notice of cancellation will be posted on the website of the Republican Party of Virginia https://virginia.gop/.
